Reconciliation SA and ActNow Theatre have teamed up, for the sixth year running, to provide a school based anti-racism program called ‘Generation of Change’.
This program has been a two-time finalist for the Australian Human Rights Commission ‘Racism. It Stops With Me’ Award and aims to facilitate important but difficult conversations about race relations within the schooling environment.
At Reconciliation SA, we believe that reconciliation is everyone’s business and therefore this program is targeted towards all students, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal.
It is a unique and engaging program that equips students how to:
- explore what individuals can do on an interpersonal level to respond to racism;
- explore racism and the effect that it has on others;
- discusses cultural safety and how it can be supported in schools and the community.
The program also includes ActNow Theatre’s award winning interactive Forum Theatre Performance “Responding to Racism” which focuses on addressing, preventing and building resilience against racism.
Check out the video for an overview of the event and this performance.
