Aunty Ros: A Story of Healing

Written by Team Writer | Feb 8, 2026 10:51:21 AM

We are honoured to premiere Aunty Ros and share the life and legacy of Aunty Ros Cameron. A Stolen Generations Survivor, educator and author whose work for the past two decades has been dedicated to healing, truth-telling and supporting others on their own journeys of understanding.

Aunty Ros’s story, told in her own words and through her lived experience, reminds us why Apology Day matters. Why reconciliation matters. Why truth-telling matters. And why identity is so important when it comes to understanding oneself, and valuing oneself.

Her story speaks to resilience in the face of unknown injustices, and to the strength that comes from choosing healing.

Through education, storytelling and compassion, Aunty Ros has spent decades creating space for understanding and connection, helping communities move forward with honesty and care.

Aunty Ros is more than a personal story. It is a testament to the enduring impact of the Stolen Generations and a call to ensure these histories are never forgotten.

We are deeply grateful to have been able to make this film with the support of the South Australian Department for Child Protection. Their support helped ensure Aunty Ros’s story was told with respect, cultural integrity and sensitivity, and that her message of healing and education could reach a wider audience.

Thank you to Aunty Ros for her generosity, courage and trust in sharing her story.
