NAIDOC Week 2025 invites all Australians to come together in celebration of 50 years of recognising the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” is a powerful acknowledgment of the knowledge and resilience of Elders, the leadership and drive of today’s young people, and the collective journey of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the country.

It’s a reminder that the future is being shaped now, and that we each have a role to play in supporting the next generation.

NAIDOC Week is not just about observing from a distance; it’s about showing up, listening, learning, and celebrating. All across the country, from big cities to small towns, there are local events that invite everyone in. You might attend a community march, take part in a cultural workshop, enjoy a smoking ceremony, or hear stories that have been passed down through generations.

On Kaurna Country in Adelaide, there are vibrant public performances and formal events, such as the NAIDOC Ball, that honour community achievements and cultural pride.

The week is an opportunity to reflect on the continuing strength of First Nations cultures and the importance of walking alongside them into the future.

Attending local events during NAIDOC Week is a simple yet meaningful way to show your support, build understanding, and celebrate the incredible contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. So make the time. Bring your family. Invite your friends.

Let’s get out into our communities, take part in the celebrations, and stand together to support the next generation, strong, visionary, and proud.

We encourage you to use the #NAIDOC2025 #NAIDOCWeek and #StrengthVisionLegacy hashtags when talking about NAIDOC Week on social media and tag the National NAIDOC Week social media accounts: Facebook - NAIDOC, X - NAIDOC Week and Instagram - NAIDOC Week.
