YEAR IN REVIEW: A Growing Community of Commitment

This past year has been a remarkable one for Reconciliation SA, and it’s a reflection not only of growing public support but of a deeper shift in how South Australians are choosing to stand for justice, connection, and healing.

As highlighted in the 2025 Annual Report, our membership base has grown significantly, signalling a strong rise in individuals, organisations, educators, and corporate partners who are choosing to walk alongside us in reconciliation.

This surge, along with the increase in our social media followers, represents a strengthening movement of people who believe in equity, respect, and truth-telling across the state. The federal Voice referendum may have exposed negative views by a large majority of our state, but it seems to have also sparked an interest to learn, despite the loss of media coverage from many publishers and news outlets.

Also behind these numbers is the success of our renewed membership structure, designed to be more accessible, more meaningful, and more responsive to the needs of members. Through clearer pathways to engagement, tailored membership categories, and more opportunities for participation, people are finding real value in joining Reconciliation SA.

The shift has helped grow not just the size of our membership, but the depth of connection our members feel to our work.

This expanding membership complements a broader lift in engagement across our communications and programs. Increased newsletter subscriptions, the aforementioned rising social media reach, and higher event participation all point to a community that is not simply watching but actively joining in.

This growth gives us both momentum and responsibility. A stronger membership base enables greater advocacy, wider education programs, more community-led initiatives, and deeper partnerships. It gives us the capacity to build on the work already underway and push further toward meaningful and lasting change.

Our year in review shows a simple truth: reconciliation thrives when people come together.

The rise in membership is a testament to the hope, commitment, and shared responsibility carried by our supporters. To every new and continuing member; thank you for standing with us on this journey.
