Aboriginal Veterans South Australia (AVSA) visited Cleve and Port Augusta in March this year as part of its Grave Dedication Program. At Cleve, students from Cleve Area School formed a guard of honour to the restored gravesite of World War One Veteran, Alick Wright,10th Battalion.

In Port Augusta, AVSA members engaged with students from Port Augusta Secondary School and the Clontarf Academy on the day before the dedication of the gravesite of 3rd Light Horse Regiment veteran and police tracker, Harry Peel.

They looked at Harry Peel’s story and Aboriginal service in general before undertaking various small group activities. Port Augusta SS and the Clontarf Academy were joined by students from Caritas College for the ceremony.
