Reconciliation South Australia are so excited to launch the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day Artwork and Colouring In Competition for 2025. Every year we collaborate with incredible Yorta Yorta artist and designer, Karen Briggs, to create stunning colouring in sheets that symbolise the theme for Children's Day.

The 2025 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day theme Little Footsteps, Big Future honours the journeys our children take as they grow—each step guided by culture, community and connection to Country.

This year, we have two categories open for children and young people to enter.

Category 1: Colouring in competition
Children between the ages of 0 to 8 years old can submit their best colouring in sheets. Download the beautiful art work by Karen Briggs and start your process.

Category 2: Original art work competition.
Children between the ages of 9 to 17 years (Children under 9 years old are still welcome to submit an original artwork piece) can create your own piece of art that demonstrates the theme of National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day for 2025. Art is subjective, so we will accept paintings, drawings, sketches, digital artworks, photographs, short films, sculpture and more. To be eligible, you need to be a child or young person living in South Australia under 18 years old. All art work should include a statement from the artist that explains how your original art piece connects with "Little Footsteps, Big Future". The competition is open until the 26th September 2025.

To enter, please send a high quality digital scan or photograph of your artwork and a signed contact form to education@reconciliationsa.org.au

Download the contact information form here

Submissions that do not include the contact form will not be shortlisted, so please ensure that all submissions include the contact form, a good quality downloadable photograph or scan of the work, and an artist statement.

This competition could not be possible without the generous support of the Department for Child Protection South Australia.

We can not wait to see what you come up with!
