Standing United Against Hate: A Statement from Reconciliation South Australia
Reconciliation South Australia was extremely disappointed by the recent activity of so-called neo-Nazi’s that occurred over the recent weekend. Everyone benefits when we support a society based in respect, inclusion, and justice and there are never any winners when divisions between groups of people occur.
We stand in unwavering solidarity with First Nations peoples, multicultural communities, and all South Australians who embrace unity and love. Racism in any form is simply not acceptable. Our shared future will be much stronger where such divisive ideologies are promptly addressed and countered.
South Australia is home to a rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and histories. Our strength lies in our diversity and our commitment to reconciliation. We celebrate the resilience of communities who continue to rise above discrimination and contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Reconciliation is not just a word, it is a lived practice. It is about truth-telling, healing, and building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community. It is also about ensuring that every person, regardless of background or circumstances, feels safe, valued, and empowered.
We support all South Australians to stand together, speak up, and continue the work of reconciliation and inclusion, celebrating the richness of diversity in our state. We support all levels of government, civil society, and community leaders to take all steps necessary to ensure our state thrives on inclusivity and compassion for each other.
Together, South Australia will continue to showcase a community that is just, united, and proud of its diversity.
